Title: Prestige: New life to s.o.
Post by: scsox on June 28, 2010, 02:06:38 PM
I Just thought having the feature of a prestige like in cod 4 mw2. When you reach lvl 100 on s.o. you could prestige and start back at lvl 1 but still have all you weps/hats. This would solve 2 issues: one, people would be able to have different stat builds for their existing account. And two, It would give the lvl 100 ppl something to do and it would bring life back into so^2.

What do you think?

What would prestige actually do for you though? Other than show that you've reached 100? This is something that has been discussed, though more in the light of, "If you're bored of killing monsters for no reason, just have your account reset." I like the fact that you keep your items, but what else would this prestige do for you?

Maybe not have "2nd prestige", but do something like "Epicphail is level 89x2" or "Epicphail is level 89^2", where the 2 indicates that I am on my 2nd rebirth thing.

I quiet like this idea... I would definitely play again if this was to be in SO2 ...
But then I'd have to get to level 100 and i still haven't gotten round to doing that:P

Getting to level 100 takes WAAAAAAY too long to implement this.

I think that once you have prestige, you could have access to more customization with your character. Maybe be able to change the color of your stick man's head, give them small cool looking features? Or be able to choose a new color for your name text, even gain a new non-combat ability that would look cool and give you the opportunity to show off to others.

Just adding something new to the game like this would bring back more players.    Q..Q

I guess my thought on this was that you'd be more powerful in some way than someone at a lower prestige. If you're level 1 second prestige, you should be better than a level 1 first prestige. Maybe the base of all stats (speed, damage, defense, etc.) is slightly better.

Perhaps you keep a reasonably small percentage of your stats when you reset into a higher prestige? This would allow for higher stat caps because you would be starting with more stat points into your stats instead of everything at 1.

In Maplestory private servers, there is a system called Rebirth, which allows you to reset your character at level 200. You keep the skills you have on your hotkeys and your stats (I think, I'm not sure. It's been a while). We could do something similar to this.

I think people will object to that.

Yes I like the idea of resetting everything but gold, name, and items. I'v been suggestion it for a while. It lets you keep your name and items and remake your stats.

How 'bout we can pay to enlarge our stick penises, because that's what this whole "prestige" concept sounds like to me. A simple character reset sounds fine and dandy, perhaps keeping your items like suggested, but anything past that seems silly to me. Our goal here should be to make it simple enough that Meiun would implement it into SOv2, latching on tons of unnecessary content seems counterintuitive.

I guess it depends how you look at it. Everyone seems to have the idea of a character reset (stats and level set to 1) whereas my idea was more a continuation of gameplay. Rather than having everything reset, there is some recognition of the progress that you made. I would rather have Meiun add 5 more levels (similar to how he added level 100) than have a character reset. Of course this doesn't allow you to reapply your stats. In which case, I would recommend adding an option to reapply stat points from the shop NPCs with a cost of something like 50k gold. This lets you keep all of your forward progress, allows you to reapply your stats, gives people a reason to use their hoards of gold, and gives level 100s a reason to gain some exp again.

I think the only argument against that is the old argument of the higher the level difference the bigger the gap between players and the more unfair pvp would be... but at this point I'm not sure that's too valid any more.

but many ppl are already at 100, thus giving them something to shoot for after lvl 100.

Anything related to you being more powerful after prestiging, be it you keep a small percentage of your stats or some such, will never happen. Be realistic. This game is built on the back of Pvp, not grind or lose to the guy who prestiged five times.

I do not like this idea, however, the thought of just actually restarting fully as a option would be nice.

Yea true, but it would be more for something in SO2 to keep people who are level 100 interested in playing. I wouldn't recommend it for SO3 at all. But yea, I don't really care if this doesn't get added. I'm not even level 100. I'm much more interested in the clan system that Meiun's adding...

Eh, sorry for off-topic.
