I knew they had to be announcing it soon. It's been three years since the release of GTA IV and it's time for some more sandbox awesomeness.

Features I think they'll be adding:
-More refined euphoria. Animation will be taken to the next level.
-Tighter controls. lets face it, GTA IV was a little bit wonky when it came to running around. I have no doubt this will be tightened like it was in Red Dead Redemption.
-Better graphics. This one is obvious. it's been three years
-planes. People cried out for them in GTA IV and I'm sure Rockstar was listening.
-Much, much more
GTA V here we come!
Sweet, can't wait to see where it will take place. Judging by the way it went from Liberty City to Vice City, I'm guessing thats where it might be. Thanks for posting. ;)
OMG CANT WAIT FOR THIS GAME TO FINALLY COME OUT.....THANK GOD
Whats funny is I was just thinking about GTA 5 the other day and googling to see if there was any info on it yet lol.

Little bit of vice city in there for the people who like it and the great map of SA it looks like. I cant weight till the trailer analysis comes out.
I hope they wait until a new console comes out to release thing. GTA4 was already a little too laggy on the PS3 for my taste, and if the graphics are even better, then the PS3 will probably lag even more. I think.

With the PS and XBox years away from a new console, it ain't likely.

Don't get me wrong though, I really love the GTA games. Maybe I should just switch to PC instead of PS3?

GTA IV really was a Xbox 360 game moved to other platforms. And it did indeed run a bit slower on the PS3 than it did Xbox at a lower resolution also. But it also was not a speed demon on the Xbox 360.
The GTA port to pc was meh and had many bugs and performance problems. On ATI cards the game was sometimes unplayable when it first came out. And there was no AA and still there is no AA from what I have seen. But I still think that game has some of the best graphics ever for environment lighting and car models and effects.
L.A. Noire is coming out on PC 8 November 2011 using the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) that Rockstare uses for there games. I would see how well that runs on pc's of today. If it runs good its most likely GTAV will also.
I didn't know ATI cards had that much trouble with it.
Would 2 ATI Radeon HD 4200's be able to play it? With 3 Gigs of ram?
I can't honestly say. For the most part gta iv works find with AMD cards now. But when the game comes out i'm sure they will benchmark it on everything. The 3 gigs of ram should be just fine.
Took me a while to find the topic.

More screenshots to come later this week :)
Sooo can't wait.
Holy crap, I had completely forgotten about this.
Before I realized how old this topic was (I read Jake's first post and thought, 'bout damn time!), my first concern was whether or not they'd actually be able to do the things Jake mentioned, and my concerns are still valid, only slightly eased with the screenshots.
I think one of the biggest hindrances are the consoles. Recently, the GTA games are seemingly designed to be identical in content/functionality between the PC & console ports, which means it can only be as feature-rich as the weakest link. In this case, the consoles. Being that PC's have been advancing at such a faster rate than consoles, it concerns me to wonder how much it can actually accomplish on a console, thus a PC.
At least two of the concerns are semi-quelled, being better graphics (holy polished, sexy, cheetah power!) and planes! Squeee!

I have heard rumors that another studio is developing GTA V for PC in conjunction with it's console counter parts. If this is true, there's a chance it could actually be a decent port with some sexy graphics. Of course, the PC version would still be artificially limited by what they choose to do on the console, but I'm honestly not too worried. GTA IV was one of my favorite games of all time, and it seems like they're pushing the series to new levels.

Yeah that's always been the case with GTA. It was a PlayStation game and then turned into a Xbox game with pc always in last place. They do throw some things in for the pc as of late in terms of graphics. In older gtas for the most part you got more resolution. In SA they gave you AA and a playback tool but took away multiplayer. In IV they gave you a lot more things you can raise and gave you night time shadows which you cant do on the consoles.
In SA they had a video playback of the last half minute or so of game play which was kinda fun and only on pc. In IV they made it save clips and let you edit them later. Which made it really cool and more worthwhile to get the PC version.
Now the RAGE engine that the new GTA uses I think is really nice looking. And IV on max is hard to do with good FPS with good system today. But that probably also has to do with how it was made not just graphics. The main downfall I think may be cause by consoles in terms of graphics is there is no AA. Which kinda sucks and looking at GTA V screen shots it looks like I dont see it there ether. Maybe thats xbox screenshots but the jagged edges kinda take you out of the experience.
In case anyone hasn't seen the new screenshots yet:
