Question:
Current PvP System, or Old PvP System?
Option 1: Current PvP System

Option 2: Old PvP System

The PvP system we have now was put in for preparation for the clan system. Many people disliked it, but in the end theres no really denying that Stick Online was tough for new players, as many would spawn kill and abuse them. However, now that Stick Online is closed off to the public and the clan system is no longer being used, I see no reason why we shouldn't bring the old system back.
The old PvP system is what made Stick Online the unique game it is, and it's a large part of what people refer to as "the good old days". With this new system lacking the clan system, the game seems so much more restricted, and I feel this is the reason for the lack of clans nowadays. That and obviously the lack of active/new players, but there still could be clans. There is no longer such a thing as holding territories, like the mountain or the wall. Or putting up bounties on people in your clan forums, when they're abusing you or drowning rare monsters. Without the freedom to smack anyone at will, PvP has really lost what was so fun about it.
Now, one could argue that this has made the game a hell of a lot more peaceful. You really don't see as many arguments and fights as before. Generally arguments are solved in a more peaceful matter, instead of spawn killing or shoving people off cliffs when they go afk. So, hence the poll. I really just wanted to see what the opinion at large was, and if anyone agreed with me. Please post why or why not you believe the system should stay or change, along with your vote.
Hmm. I'm undecided. I have a feeling everything you are describing could be due to lack of players in general. Less people means people are less likely to break up into clans, and less likely to get into fights, etc. Since both changes, pvp system and donor server, were made around the same time it's hard to tell which is the cause.
That's very true, I think the lack of new and active players is the largest factor. My point is that, on top of that, there is no Reason to make a clan. I'm 99% sure Meiun won't bring the clan system back, as it requires lots of work on his part to add and remove people constantly. So without a clan system, we're stuck with the leftovers that were supposed to be the building blocks for it, but why keep the building blocks for a system that we're not going to use?
I really don't feel too strongly about this, I'm o.k with the system we have currently. Theres nothing specifically wrong with it, I just feel it could be improved if we went back to the old system.
Right. The problem is, of the current/active players, there is an even smaller number of people who would want to regularly pvp. You would have to have an agreement to leave pvp on so that anyone could attack anyone. It's a good system in theory, but it relies on having other people who will follow that rule and who actually want to pvp fight.
I would at least give it a try though. I haven't heard of anyone making an effort to get all of the pvp-minded people together to agree to leave pvp on at all times. Of course, that would make fighting monsters a bit harder. But, all in the name of a good time. I say do a poll to see how many people would follow that guideline. Though, if you can get Meiun to change the sytem back it wouldn't matter. This is only in the event that he doesn't.
Definitely for the old PvP system. That was the largest part of what made the game fun. If you have dominance, show it to someone who back sasses you. But it also allowed you to show your superior personality by NOT getting too hot headed.
You mean a system where we can actually kill people trying to drown SGs? I'm all for it.
I'd be down for that.
I voted for the wrong one. mouse sliped. >_< but i would like the idea of you can pvp any one even when they have it off with how the game is now.
When stick online 3 comes out and goes public i would like the way we have now.
So i vote for Old PvP System.
I voted old. Quite frankly, the freedom to kill (or attempt to kill) anybody you wanted to at any given moment was very gratifying, and it was that that gave the game its unique gameplay style. Sure, every other MMORPG on the planet has killing monsters, character customization, and loot, but does every other MMORPG on earth even let you kill your allies without asking to "duel" first? Nope.

Oops, knew I shoulda checked the ability to change your vote. I agree, though. SO3 should have the current system, or something like it.

Yes. Most MMORPGs have PvP servers. Some servers are setup like we have it now where you have to "duel" the person first, but some are setup that you can attack anyone at any time.
Oddly, I'm voting for the old one. PVP has become rather useless without it. Meiun also considered PVP a major portion of this game; he said so on the old site. If 'a major portion' of the game is now useless, what happens to the game? The reason it's odd for me to do this is that I'm level 44(11/13/11/11) and would suffer more than most from the implementation.
I want the old one back, noobs are getting out of line these days.
I wouldn't say the current system is useless. It is just different. You can still pvp. The other person just has to turn it on as well. Like I mentioned above, if enough people feel the same way (and it seems they do) then you can all just leave pvp on and it would be the same thing. The people who don't agree can leave it off and not be bothered...
I voted for the current pvp system. (:
i liked the old one... i could slap someone and rnu away with my superior agility :D, but then get spawn killed when i die
The current system may be more stable, but it certainly is not as fun as it used to be. The only part I dissaproved on was the fact that many would pick on players who are brand new and haven't done anything wrong... what makes it worse is many of the players had no lives and the torments would continue for hours sometimes making you unable to gain experience or pass a certain point, yet it was always great trying to avoid getting killed from them by running away. :P
I voted Old,
Seeing as we have a mostly good community (based on the fact that they paid to be able to play) they aren't gonna do anything too stupid. and yeah it can bring back things like Kill lists, King of the hill (dominating the mountain), and hammering people that try to drown stuff. . .
But I say the current system for SO3
Well, the only bad thing is that it sucks for noobs who can't take hits while they are afk.
What noobs?
and anyone going AFK would die eventually while taking hits...knowing you, it'll be you who is killing them.
besides, its not like it matters if you die going afk anyways... if you are at wall, the enmies can't kill you and you aren't going to get gold or exp from sitting there, same for anywhere else
I'm up for the old way..
And yea, it would be pretty much only sox killing anyone who was afk or lower lvls who can't defend themselves, yet..
i voted for the old pvp system as it was much more fun back when u could kill anyone u want. even as a noob i didnt really care about getting spawn killed it was just part of the game for me. when i got spawned killed someone would always help me anyway
Yea pretty much has been said already, plus the new one sucks, noobs would hit you while you pvp someone and would run away till they can turn off their pvp, and strike back during your fight >_>
Old.
The old system kept people on their toes, and I remember being spawn killed a ton, which annoying as it was, gave me a huge incentive to get better. This may just be my experience, but I reckon the old system made people want to play more to gain respect in the form that they are no longer easily killed, and can fight back. I have a theory that the game may have lost a little edge to it, due to combat being a significant feature, and people only care about pvp whenever there's a tournament, Which thesedays are few and far between. With the old system, whenever you played, you had to be ready to defend or attack at any random moment. Which may have set determination of new/low level players to earn there way to the top of the food chain as it were. :P

What he said, old system was the best.

Yes now there are no completely random battles when a 99 tries to kill a group of afk newbs.
It was a lot of fun back then when everyone could kill everyone.
EXEPT when there was a boss and a newbs took the hits from somebody's inferno sword.

Nicely said Lucker. That is also my personal opinion on the original pvp system. It was the "incentive" to train hard and over power your enemy. I actually became quite addicted to coming up with a perfect stat build back then. Did a lot of calculating.
Anyway. These days, the pvp just isn't the same. I do like the peace. But I like the freedom to attack anyone at anytime even more. I think the pvp system should be changed back to what it was originally. It might even get some more players back online, people might start up clans to help protect each other. And then you got a motivation to come online to help your clan mates (When I say clans, I mean an unofficial clan that doesn't have there own coded clan name under the player name).

That's true.. you never PVP with me now. :(
I think it's pretty obvious that most of the community would like the old system back. Of course bringing the old system back won't suddenly inspire guilds to sprout up like daisies, or cause a massive increase in players. But I think it will make the server a little more fun, and in the end that's the only reason it's even up. I'd love to hear what Meiun has to say, and if he'd be at all interested in bringing it back.
Voted for the old system. I personally extremely dislike having the PVP system the way it is now. The old system was one of the things that made the game so fun. (Of course, that does partially tie into having clans, but it was still more fun than the new system.) I remember being a newb, and most people were extremely cool about letting me pass by areas they guarded. The only person who EVER killed me due to this system was Snakeman, derp derp derp. But it was still more fun.
Actually, I don't think this should be done, just look at the tourney we had earlier on today...there are several people who are not mature enough to handle something like this...in simpe terms, they'll annoy the @#!$ out of us.

That's all the more reason to do it. That way if the people who start with you turn pvp off you can still kill em ;) Besides most of the people who were starting stuff were noobs anyways *cough* uber *cough*

Dipz, killaking, zario777, the list goes on.
Still the old system was best even when you got spawned killed.

This always has happened, and always will happen. SO just attracts these kinds of people, and there isn't much we can do about it. However we could spawnkill them over and over if the old system was renewed. *evil laugh*
Voted the old system. It was so much more fun back then. We need the old system back!
is it actually possible to get the old system back?
I should think it is possible, it also would be a good idea for Meuin to be able to toggle from the old to the new, ie toggle to the new for tourneys :D

If it's possible to change the old system to the new, it should be possible to do vice versa.

I'm not meiun but i would think it would not be that hard. It might even just be a bit he needs to switch.
Old system is what made this MMO stand out from the others.
Ah the ol' days. I remember when I tried to get to each side of the mountain for unknown reasons, and Pinball would hunt me down until I got off of the rocky parts. =P I enjoyed it, and even fought back once (biggest mistake) but this was b4 the desert so ya. Man, what I would possibly do to play S.O again...
