Of movies I've recently seen, my favorites:

Gran Torino- movie had a good story and made me laugh..gotta admit I cried at the end too  :'(
Sherlock Holmes- this movie really makes you think, and the fighting scenes were done well
Zombieland- gotta love comedy-horror films.. reminded me of Shaun of the Dead (another awesome movie)

Its from overheating, not lack of updates, I got purple lines running through my screen and a permanent resolution change, but thats off topic.   ::)

I have a couple good ones. Wall-E and Up. Seriously, some of these CGI Pixar movies that are sort of meant for kids are really very deep, meaningful movies. The opening sequence of Up in particular, where they tell the whole story of these two people's lives without any words is just amazing.

I can't believe I forgot about 28 Days Later!! D: I love that movie ^_^

Also I loved Up, Wall-e, Finding Nemo, & most movies by Pixar. The beginning of Finding Nemo & Up are so sad though D:

Great movies, and I was actually thinking about listing them both. Pixar really knows how to make a good movie for adults and kids alike.

No starwars? I know they can be a bit hyped but they are still good movies.

not meaning to necro, but i will...
if anyone has seen the book of eli, its a great movie. now before i get flamed for it having religion in it, i saw a different morale in it. i think it might be a new favorite in my list.

L change the world (even though i am a huge death note fan, i'm not biasing this... the movie is awesome)
green street hooligans (pretty deep movie... makes you wonder what would happen if things were different, etc...)
american pies (has a special place in my perverted heart)
van wilder (same as above)
