Overclocking?

I want to overclock my laptop now. :D

I had changed my clock speed to 800MHz for a while, but that was pretty slow, so I set it back to the factory settings. (2.10GHz)
My CPU is AMD Sempron M120. Can I overclock?

EDIT: I don't know much about this, but I do realize that it will probably have heat problems if I overclock it. What would be a safe setting to set it at?

Prosper

I've never overclocked myself. But I know for a fact overclocking is made possible by improving cooling system. Now just how can you efficiently do that on a laptop.. I wouldn't know. In my opinion, if at all it would be an overclockable processor. Do it only if you wanna use it in a cool area and if you dont care ruining it.

Yeah, I figured that's what someone would say :( I'll just buy a new computer that is a bit faster.

No way your going to overclock a stock laptop man. It will overheat pretty badly. Laptops already often have heating issues, and require you to get additional coolant packs.

Typically overheating occurs because people have no idea what they are doing.  The goal is to set a CPU goal and keep an eye on the heat, making many, many adjustments.  People get way too ambitious and shoot for outrageous goals right from the get-go thinking they can push it further and further, and don't stress test to make sure it doesn't get too warm.  Soon enough, whamo, their ignorance just turned their lappy into a molten brick in the middle of their OS update while alt-tabbed out of their kiddy-bashing session on Modern warfare and latest photoplasty project in which Zuckerburg gets a cheeky tramp stamp photoplopped on his forehead while Google+ oozes some throat yogurt on his forehead for releasing such a shitastical new Facebook layout.

If you want details, lifehacker just came out with an excellent (and lengthy) how to yesterday: http://lifehacker.com/5842094/speed-up-your-low+powered-pc-or-netbook-by-overclocking

Im going to agree with Seifer. Complementary laptops are kinda set in stone when they are made other than maybe hard drive/ ram and a few minor things (not saying there are acceptations). In a laptop environment heat is your main problem. It will drain your batteries faster also.

If you never have done this i would suggest never exceeding what the factory set for you. I have seen laptops with settable clocks but they have been made with that in mind. This is more of a desktop thing to do.

Alright. I think I am going to buy a cheap $600-$700 Desktop in a week or two, and modify it instead.
