Red Horizon

Red Horizon is the perfect combination of Real-Time Strategy mixed with Minecraft.  Teams rule over provinces with the goal of conquering other provinces; ultimately claiming victory over the entire country.

The below terms and rules are subject to change, and are intended solely to garner interest and determine feasibility.  We will update further and bring awareness to any changes made to the following.

The Objective

  • Conquer each neighboring enemy province until your team is the only remaining team on the map.
The World

  • The world will consist of one Minecraft map, split into numerous color coded (dyed cloth) provinces outlining de-militarized zones.
  • Each province will contain one capital castle, and a wall which acts a defense.

    • The castle in each province will house one relic (glowstone) block.
  • In the outlining de-militarized zones around each province, there will be isolated neutral encampments which will contain supplies for temporary housing as well as supplies for the offensive team to utilize on their journey to the defending team?s province.
The Teams

  • Each team consists of no less than three players.
  • Every team must decide upon one team leader, and one assistant team leader, and will be submitted to the Red Horizon staff prior to the tournament?s start.

    • The team leader?s responsibilities include liaising with the Red Horizon staff, coordinating offensive engagements, and acting as the single voice of the team.
    • The assistant team leader will assume the duties of acting team leader should the official team leader be absent.
  • All teams will randomly be assigned a set of provinces by the Red Horizon staff.
  • Teams may not swap members from other teams once the first battle day starts.
  • Once a team is eliminated, members of that defunct team may not join other teams.
The Teams

  • The battles will occur every other recurring Sunday from the start of the tournament (one week on, one week off).
  • The amount of weeks will be dictated by the quantity of players participating in the tournament, and how long they may participate during a battle day.
  • If all team leaders can confirm that their teams will be in attendance at a date prior to the next scheduled Sunday, the next battle day will occur at that date.
  • Each team must take their turn at offensively attacking a neighboring province when dictated by a Red Horizon staff member.

    • Further details will be clarified by Red Horizon staff prior to the beginning of each battle day.
    • If a team is unavailable to defend their province when another team declares their intent to attack, they will forfeit their province.
  • During the battle days, the offensive opportunities for teams will occur in a round-robin fashion for each team.
The Battles

  • Every battle will be moderated by a Red Horizon staff member.
  • The goal of each round in a battle is for the defensive team?s relic (glowstone) to be destroyed within a one hour time frame.

    • If the relic is destroyed, regardless of which team is responsible, the defensive team forfeits the province.
    • If the relic is not destroyed within one hour from the start of the battle, the defensive team will retain ownership of the province being attacked.
  • The attacking team will approach from the province that was previously declared as the origination of the offensive initiative.

    • The offensive team may occupy any of the isolated neutral encampments surrounding the defending team?s province in order to facilitate and strategize their attack (e.g. place beds to save spawn point, store resources, etc).
    • The defensive team may not set foot outside of the province they are currently defending during the battle.
  • The amount of players able to attend a battle is determined by the participation of both teams.
  • Should the teams be uneven at the start of a battle, the team with the lesser amount of players may choose to either forfeit the province, or fight with the disadvantage, as dictated by the team leader to the Red Horizon staff in attendance.
  • Each battle will consist of either one or two rounds.

    • The first round will be a four round battle where the offensive team attempts to capture the defensive team?s province.
    • If the offensive team wins at least three of the four rounds in a battle, they will claim the defensive team?s province.
    • In the event of a tie, the defensive team will have successfully repelled the offensive team?s attack, and the initiative will have been considered a failure.
    • Should the defensive team win at least three out of the four battles, an additional battle can be declared by the defensive team?s leader (or assistant in the team leader?s absence) as an attempt to turn the tables on the offensive team and claim the province that the offensive team attacked from.

      • The potential second battle will occur on the original offensive (now defensive) team?s province that they declared to be attacking from.
      • The second battle will consist of three rounds.
      • If the original defensive (now offensive) team wins best out of three, they claim the province.
      • If the original offensive (now defensive) team wins best out of three, they retain ownership of the province.
    • If the second battle is elected by the defending team?s leader, it must occur immediately after their victory in the first battle.

So who's interested?  Once we determine how many people are interested in playing, we'll be able to better refine the rules.

As with almost anything Minecraft related, Dartxni & I are always up for it. This looks pretty neat :3

My interest has been gained, but once it's popular enough I'll need to know the exact times. Being in Australia has its disadvantages time-wise.
