Ok, so I wanted to play Minecraft. DON'T THROW THIS TOPIC INTO THE VIDEO GAMES!!! I'm just wanting to ask how do I maximize RAM, physical memory, yaddahyaddahyaddah. Cause I've been figuring if someone could find a way to show how I can do such a thing, I can do a lot of otha stuff.

Link to my current statistics (November 22, 2010):
http://www.box.net/shared/q55erv8snl

How to:
Maximize Page File = Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System icon > Advanced > Performance settings > Advanced > Change Virtual Memory
Maximize RAM = Buy it
Maximize Physical Memory (if possible) =
Maximize Kernel Memory (if possible) =
Maximize Free Space: CCleaner and Black Viper
Improve Speed: CCleaner, JkDefrag, Black Viper, and Game Booster
and others.

This can be used to teach people how to make their computer handle more on top of their huge free disk space.

Hey, I think I have a RAM chip here at home. I wonder how you get it in? Looks like I need assistance.

There's a couple things you can try, although the general gains are likely negligible, unless it has never been done before.

First off, download CCleaner and run the cleaner and registry scanner:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

Get a good virus/adware/spyware scanner and remover.  I'm not too spun up on what the good free scanners are now a days, others might be able to help with that.  Get it, run it a couple of times, and remove all the junk that could have inadvertently built up on your computer over time.  I know Spybot S&D was a good spyware remover, not so sure about adware after Adaware shot themselves in the foot.  Someone clue him in on a good couple of scanners to accomplish this please.

Next up, whenever you have time away from your computer (be it over night or during an afternoon when you are away) defragment your computer.  The Windows defragmenter is pathetic, and cannot handle moderate to large sized files, so get yourself JKDefrag (or MyDefrag, same difference): http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/JkDefrag-3.36.zip

Keep in mind when defragmenting you should only run once a week at most.  If you are defragmenting all the time, it will actually further fragment and degrade performance.  Yes, you can over-defrag your computer.  JKDefrag is very meticulous, so it will take time.  Before you defrag your computer, go into safe mode by restarting your computer, and mashing the F8 button once you see the initial splash screen at bootup until it prompts you with a menu, and select "Safe Mode", then run the defragmenter from safe mode, and you're guaranteed to get the best results, and likely the fastest as well.

Once all that is done, get yourself a thing of canned air, crack open your tower (or laptop... carefully) and dust it out.  Don't be surprised at the amount of dust that comes out if you've never done it before.  Computers are like air filters in cars, but much easier to clean.

Like I said, most is probably going to prove negligible and may not give you the results you want, but at least you'll have a healthier and happier computer with all the garbage off and out of it.

you might try a program called game booster, it disables unneeded programs that run in the back ground thus freeing up ram and processing.

Also a good site to get rid of not needed windows services.

Hell yeah CCleaner. You can try to:
-Clear up startup programs
-End background processes raping your CPU
-Defragment your HDD
-Defend yourself from the ninjas
-The ram chip you have shouldn't be that hard to install. I learned how to from google when I was 11 years old.
-Change the windows theme to the '95 version
-Disable Window Animations, I totally forgot how to do this unfortunately.
-Reformat as a last resort

I think overclocking will help a lot too, but that is hard to do.

Alright, looks like I'm gonna dust the- WHOA! Oh my god! I got the dust out and rolled it up as a ball and it weighs a pound!
I'm gonna try these various programs and see how it works for me. Who knows? Maybe I can play Minecraft on this metal sack.
