I was watching my friend try it out, and an Enderman took a cobblestone block from his house. I thought they couldn't do that?

EDIT: Someone please answer, should I start a map now or wait until the whole update has come out? Will I have to make a new map when the real 1.8 comes out?

Start a new one now, and then start another new one after update.

A great number of the present bugs in the first 1.8 Pre-Release have been resolved in this one, so if you're playing the leak, you'll want to update.

List of things Jeb said he was working on yesterday, and assumedly have been fixed in today's update:

* SSP chunk memory leak
    * Mineshaft density (half now)
    * Increased stronghold count to 3 per map instead of one
    * Furnace tile entity crash
    * Crafting bench ghost items
    * Vines (and leaves) crash in nether
    * Use item animation in SMP (blocking and eating)
    * Blocking in SMP
    * Sprinting with right-click or sneaking
    * Added some blocks to creative mode
    * Fixed dropping items
    * Nothing can be eaten in creative mode
    * Enderman client-side problems
    * Chicken and cow drop burned food
    * Squids drop exp
    * 1.7 worlds should get structures
    * Farmlands rejecting melon and pumpkin seeds
    * Bonemeal on melons and pumpkins
    * Bonemeal on mushroom only works on dirt or grass
    * Added item drops for cracked and mossy smooth stone brick
    * Adjusted fog strength at low positions

Additionally, EXP orbs now clump into larger numbers when possible, so they won't crash servers (he forgot to add that to this list).

Who is hosting 1.8 servers ? Playing alone is less fun.

Mine is updated to the official 1.8 now. 

Same setup as before. Whitelist (using same list as before).  Vanilla server.  Currently nothing built; brand new map. Survival/adventure mode:  minecraft.igufed.com

Different machine than before, we'll see how it goes. 

I'm sure others will pop up as well.

It's back online.  I had to do some stuff to my network this afternoon so it was offline.

But, posting in here that you can't connect won't really do anything..  If you have issues, PM me.  I'll get the notice on my phone and I can PM back any information about why it is down or whatever issue you are having.

PM igufed. His list is the same as last time, which explains how I didn't need to do anything. But new players must ask igufed, and he'll add them on the list.

Also I can't tell if your 2nd list is actually a question. If you're asking how to get it, then update it as you start the game.

They've released a version 1.8.1. It was just a bug fix, nothing added.
