Magicka

is a new game much like Diablo. Players go questing, in a story drawn out over 13 chapters, learning new spells and ways to conquer new foes. The game has capabilities for 4 player coop. The game is unique in how spellcasting is performed and the fact there is no mana bar, you have infinite spellcasting ability. It is rather hard to explain how the game operates in words, but there is a free demo playable through steam. The game has many comical references to other movies and games.

You can buy it on steam for $10 and get free DLC if purchased before the 31st.

I have already beat the game as I no lifed it, and will be the first to tell you the coop is great, and the game has a lot of replayablity, and I highly recommend it. When the game first was released it was extremely buggy but over the past several days patches have been rapidly released fixing almost all of the issues.

If anyone chooses to get it, feel free to post your steam ID and we can play sometime.
And finally I'd like to close with, Vlad isn't a vampire, because he said so!

This made me decide to play. Yes yes, 30 minutes. Well worth it. This man is a comical genious that makes this game look amazing. I am buying it right now!

OMG I was just watching my first live broadcast of this and the topic shows up!

Anyway, from what I watched, it looked very fun. I like all the combos you can make.

Not sure how much time I wil really be clocking into it since classes have started back and I've got a number of other very important things to be working on, but I went ahead and bought it. Looks pretty sweet, and for $10 I'd feel bad to not support a game with this much creative energy put into it.

Lucifer

It's well worth $10, and I haven't played more than a couple hours. All I've done so far is play a little multiplayer with a friend, experimenting with combinations, and having epic battles on a lake, freezing it and sliding around shooting fire at each other.

ok ill say i like the game, the game play is great but the checkpoint and save function are not well implemented because if you dont complete a level you cant resume so you have to completely restart the level.

Yeah, that part is the one thing I don't like too much as well. It does add a bit more of a challenge I suppose, which isn't always a bad thing. But it can be a bit much at times.

But that is really a pretty minor issue to me ultimately. Because overall I think this game is extremely awesome.

I still want this game so badly, but I'm planning to buy Portal 2 as soon as it comes out. Either that, or I'll have to not look at Portal 2 topics of any website until I get it.

Either way, I think what I like to do with this game is just start Chapter 1 and try every possible combination. It's such a new way to try a game, just making out some sort of small language on spells...

EDIT: lol They have 2 achievements on Steam called "IMMA FIRIN' MAH LAZER!!!! (70.7%) - Successfully cross two beams into a more powerful one" and "It's over nine thousand!!!! (62.3%) - Deal over 9000 damage to one enemy."

EDITIT: OMG I didn't see that you could play the demo! :O I'ma go play it!!

EDITINIT: ... Dang it, I can't play it. Help?

Bought the game and installing it as I type.

Lags too much on full screen, so I have it set to Window mode on the lowest resolution possible. Got rid of most of the lag.
My graphics card seems to be able to handle the graphics. Some of the scenery flashes some, but that's about it.

So far my favorite spell is 3 Earth and 2 'whatever that red stuff is called'.

Changed my mind about my favorite spell. I love using Lightning and Fire!

Anyways, completed the first 2 chapters (took me a while to figure out how to kill the Chapter 2 boss). This game is fun, though I hate getting attacked while trying to combine my spells.

Well thats not really a spell...spells are the comos from books. But as far as non-spell castings go. The best alone is ASR. (cold, beam, lightning) And even better used if you shoot out a beam of water, than use it. It freezes things to instant ice and does insane shock damage all at the same time.
