Your sprites are pretty sucky.  It's not surprising, and it's just a fact of life.  However, you won't get better unless you keep practicing, so I wholeheartedly encourage you to keep at it.

EDIT:  Just noticed the bow.  I can already see some improvement. 

Also, don't even bother trying to animate until you've got a fairly firm handle at making basic sprites.

I think you should stray away from the well known shapes, they're making your sprites look very bland. Also try not to make your sprites symmetrical, as that also doesn't make them very interesting to look at.
