Got my new laptop (finally) and now I can run GTA4 on this puppy. It just meets ty.he requirements, but is still fairly laggy however I'm still happy to play the god damn thing after I bought it a few months ago. If anyone has this game, and would like to play multiplayer with me, my Windows Live username is Zackjjames.

Also, does anyone have a solution to make this game run any faster? I turned down every settings and such but it is still choppy.

Run it as administrator if you're on win7 or vista. It's always said, but it does actually work for some games.  :P
Other than that maybe just mess around a bit with the target settings for the game execution file to see if you can get it to the perfect setting?

Nope. This game is on the slow side.

Thanks for the suggestion Sly 3 4 me. It was already running on an administrator account. I thought it was running fine until I got kicked out of live for it "running too slow", aha. Oh well. It's a pretty tough game, and I hope they find some patch to fix the issues with it's high graphics and all as turning down the settings does not help any bit.   :(

I know I know!

Return the laptop and get a desktop.

Right now I'm not willing to pay for a desktop to play GTA4, and I hardly use any of my computers for gaming. I only wanted to try it out considering I had gotten GTA4 so long ago. It's fine though, I can still play but it isn't very fast nor does it give me nearly good of an experience as I would if I had one of those gaming desktops.

You should have gotten a 360 and then got this game.

I'm getting one once I get my paycheck from Hyperchild workshop. I bought the game without the clue of how harsh the requirements were (I'm an idiot for this), I think it's rather obvious that I should buy a gaming console. Just ignore me asking for help. How do you guys like the game?

I loved the game to death (literally, it was the last game I played before my PS3 committed suicide), especially the multiplayer. The single player storyline is awesome, the characters and voice acting are awesome, the gameplay is awesome, it's just awesome all around. The one thing that annoyed me about that game is !@#$ing Roman calling you every 5 seconds asking you to play pool with him. You're driving down the highway at 100MPH being chased by 10 cop cars and he's casually asking you if you want to go out for beers, stupid bastard...

Anyways, I enjoyed it, that's too bad it won't work properly on your laptop.

Dude don't worry too much that it was your fault. The game was a not the best port to start with. There even was one of those mad hither videos about how slow the game was. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0G77tGFFWEI

A word of warning: When ever you see a game ported from the 360 to anything else (ps3 or pc) it will most likely be crappy. (unless its a simple 2d game)

As for the game its self. Well i'm a fan of the gta games. I have played this game here for like 300hours+. The game at first seems super awesome and detailed. But after a while you start to see how scripted it is and how much they recycle stuff. But its still a good looking game.

As for the game play its not bad. The single player is fun but i do wish they had more built in cheats. The story is ok and has good voice acting and camera work.

Now for online play its also ok. Is nicely made but just really laggy (internet wise) making playing it competitively not really fun to do. Game modes like deathmatch and domb the base are just too laggy (online, i dont know about lan). But free rome is not bad to mess around in online and that's ware i played mostly online. Its fun to just make up stuff to do in free rome with other people. But as of now i don't think much people play gta iv online on the 360 or pc. (i could be wrong and this is why:)

Now they are adding onto the game slowly. The pc and ps3 had 2 expiation patch. Each expiation pack have different online modes and does not cross over to any other. Today there are 3 expiation packs on the 360 and soon coming to pc and ps3. So if you want to play online the best idea is to buy the new expiation pack and hop on there because expiation pack bring people back to the game.

As for the expiation pack single player is really not bad. They do spice up the game when it starts to get old. They add some new places and guns and cars here and there and a lot more stuff.

I hope you get to enjoy this game later on.

In the future, I will definitly be getting GTA4 for Xbox360 unless a new console were to pop out before I make the money to afford one.
Right now, I have SA-MP (San andreas Multiplayer) which is uber fun as you can have up to 500 players on one server. There are plenty more to do as well. If anyone does have GTA:SA for PC, make sure you get the multiplayer mod and we can find a server to fool around in for a while.

Delicious SA-MP is great but you should also check out MTA SA: http://mtavc.com/ . I played both a lot!
