quit making the game so gameplay oriented
the reason we played so1 for so long was not because we wanted the black helm, its because we wanted to have fun with some random people on the internet, just like the fun we have with random strangers in a car.

motha !@#$in shit to add:
smilies
possibly some sort of friends list? although i like the idea of not having it, as it allows more mainstream fun with randoms (allowing it to be harder to contact your friends in the event you want to hang out with them)
personal messaging
inbox/outbox for PMs (so you can see them at a later time)
^ those can also affect gameplay in a good way by using npc strategies to your advantage
possibly some sort of MSN hookup but that sounds extensively lamer than what you would think
allow links to be clicked and opened through your SO client into your default browser
allow copy/pasting in game so that the idea above allows quicker usage
possibly saving chatlogs? i dont know

im not asking that we implement twitter and facebook into SO, im just asking that the chat feature be upped a bit, because it's always been shit.
i did kind of like the gameplay in so2 but the chat was still poop, but it lasted. honestly the only thing id like to see would be the link usage thing, as that would be the best for a game like SO (i mean because it's so lightweight and efficient you can alt-tab with ease of mind of not having lag).

also whats with the swear filter

Actually, some of this isn't such a bad idea. While I don't necessarily agree with forgetting about gameplay, I do think SO has always been a very social game. With that said, including some common social networking features would be a great idea. I guess it all depends on the direction Meiun plans to take the game in.

Torch

I'd be down for improving the chat system.

I do hope Stick Online V3 strays away from Stick Online V2 in that aspect. The main goal of the game shouldn't be constant grinding for the latest/best weapons and hats. I'd love for the gameplay to be more team-orientated, where not only can you form parties, but the clan system is very unique and in depth. I'd really appreciate some of your ideas, like the Friends List and Personal Messaging system. From what I hear, Meiun doesn't seem to want to implement a private chatting system, but I wonder what he'd think of a mailing system. I dunno about the links, I can imagine that being abused, but that's what moderators are for I suppose.

I think we should attempt to take a note from guild wars. Guild Wars is very unique in that the max level is 20, and can be reached within 7-10 hours easily. The focus is on end game content, not the grind to the endgame.

Mr Pwnage

So basically your suggesting to improve chat and communication systems and make the game more team/clan-oriented? Well shit, I'm down for that.

I would have raged at his lack of grammar and horrid sentence structure, if I knew it wasn't Daru. Seeing as it is, it's pointless.

Mmm, Didnt know it was Daru, if I did, I wouldn't have even bothered. I thought it was just another noob being a douche to the respected community members, thinking there big shit. But...Meh.

Don't go thinking any of these ideas are new to me. I also agree that more social stuff and team related stuff will be great. However, I think saying "stop making it so gameplay oriented" is a horrendous statement. It is a game, if it doesn't have good gameplay then what the hell is the point (unfortunately there are a fair number of games that are like that nowadays...). But yes, I do agree there should be more to the game/gameplay than just grinding or hunting for new stuff, and intend to make that happen in the future. As for the chat system, having some improvements to that is definitly not anything I'm opposed to. However, one thing that I am a bit against in regards to that is too much personal messaging or overdoing other forms of private chatting. A big part of what made Stick Online such a social game to begin with was adding the realism of not having private group chat/long distance PMing, therefore forcing you to (at least to some extent) socialize with the people nearby and give everyone the opportunity to be included (which believe it or not was intentional from the start).

welp, i wanted to stretch the point on why grinding was fun, but it's not what made SO1 so addicting to a lot of people, and SO2 of course. this game wouldn't be as fun as a singleplayer game simply because it always survived in the community itself
and yes, i was trying to point out that we should never allow people to sit in a "friend" hole and not socializing with random people who might have candy.
